Qatar sees $440m of property deals in 11 days

Real estate transactions in Qatar have stepped up in recent months – with $440m worth of property transactions registered with RERD in less than a fortnight, according to OBG.

Reports have indicated that $440m worth of deals were done between 24th June and 5th July. On average, deals worth around $275m a week were being signed in Q1 of this year, providing confidence that total transactions in 2012 will reach an estimated $13.7 billion.

With the current population growth in Qatar there is certainly a high demand for property not only for investment, but simply to cater for the existing residents and businesses. It is estimated that the construction sector will achieve an average annual growth rate of 11.4%, according to the Qatar Statistics Authority.
