Middle East salaries ‘set to increase’

MANAMA: There will be an average salary increase of 6.08 per cent in the Middle East in 2013, according to a survey by global human resource company Aon Hewitt.

In the GCC, an average salary increase of 5.4pc was projected for 2013, the same as the projection made in 2011 for 2012, indicating that organisations continue to show confidence in the economic stability of the region.

The report highlighted differences between the GCC countries, with Bahrain-based organisations giving the lowest salary increase projection for 2013 at 4.4pc and Kuwait-based organisations forecasting the highest at 6.2pc.

“All macro-indicators have shown that the economic scenario continues to move in a positive direction with corporates continuing to show confidence in the 2013 economic outlook,” said Aon Hewitt Middle East head of reward consulting Martin McGuigan.

“At large, there are no further reductions in the salary increase projections for the next year which is good news for employees.”
