Kuwait Metro attracts 60 expressions of interest

The Kuwaiti government has received more than 60 expressions of interest from specialised local, regional and international companies for the first phase of the Kuwait Metro, according to news agency Kuna.

Phase 1 comprises the control systems for the project, and includes development and maintenance of heavy-maintenance stations, as well as control system and carts components.

Eng. Fatima Al-Kandari, project leader at the Partnerships Technical Bureau (PTB), said the entire project is aiming for a 2020 completion date, but “we hope to have it finished even earlier. We cannot completely control or regulate the date, however, as the private sector is carrying this project.”
