Abu Dhabi to build world’s biggest gate

Abu Dhabi is currently building a 25-metre gate in honour of the president of the UAE, which will be the largest in the world when it is unveiled on UAE National Day on December 2.

The 25-metre heritage gate, whose location has been kept under wraps, will carry HH Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s name in over 200 languages, the WAM News Agency reported.

Already under construction, the symbolic gate will be the largest in the world when it is unveiled on UAE National Day on December 2.

The project was launched by The Sultan Bin Zayed’s Culture and Media Centre, in cooperation with the Zayed Higher Organisation for Humanitarian Care and Special Needs, the UAE University and the Sheikh Khalifa Fund to support Youth Projects.

Habib Yusuf Al Sayigh, Director General of the Centre, said the Khalifa Project in World Languages is a gesture of gratitude to the country and the president.

He said the project “reflects a genuine love to Sheikh Khalifa from Emiratis and world peoples. It aims at expressing allegiance to the leader through writing his name in all languages of the world, as well as highlighting the UAE culture and national identity.”

The project will include an electronic encyclopedia “Khalifa in languages of the world,” which is a high-tech website including a biography of Sheikh Khalifa, and the UAE’s achievements translated in different languages of the world.
